Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total over 50 million watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33M audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched World Series matchup after the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American average was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance after 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
