Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard court after March of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
