Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Hoping For
It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only place where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to use it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons car everyone is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.
The Dream Vehicle
Although most players would undoubtedly love to face off behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical car Homer built personally in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Rather, players will obtain the family's everyday beat-up sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic symbol of the series. For those who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics
And it's not the sole customization item from the series coming to Rocket League. The event will additionally feature a set of challenges to unlock additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"
Although the complete list of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what's been announced so far:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's hedge-themed banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 experience points for each challenge
Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also receive wheels with a TV showing The Simpsons' opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts inspired by burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.
